A perfect sewing gift for experienced dressmakers and new sewists, we’ve included all the sewing essentials you might need to make repairs to your clothes, so you can give your clothes the longest life possible, helping you sew sustainably and maintain a sustainable lifestyle.
Our Eco-Repair Kit includes:
Scanfil Organic cotton sewing thread – 2 reels suitable for hand and machine sewing, it is made with organic chemical and pesticide-free cotton, spun in Holland.
Gold Stork embroidery scissors with tassel – 9cm (3.5″) in length. These scissors and tassel are part of our deadstock range of Haberdashery.
Organic Elastic – 1m lengths of 2.2mm cord and 1m of 6mm elastic – this elastic is soft and biodegradable. Made from GOTS organic cotton and natural rubber it is completely biodegradable, perfect to repair shoelaces / face masks / drawstring bags in a jiffy!
Buttons – a selection Corozo natural nut buttons and Agoya shell buttons – Corozo buttons are made from the Tagua palm tree and a brilliant alternative to plastic. Should you need to decorate or replace buttons, Corozo is an excellent plastic free alternative. Our shell buttons are deadstock.
Needles & safety pins in a handy tin – 3 x John James needles all purpose hand sewing needles, 3 Safety Pins and my favourite pins stored in a sturdy tin so they can always be at hand.
Beeswax – a tablet of natural beeswax thread conditioner to strengthen and help your thread run smoother, preventing tangling when hand sewing.
Kleins Tape measure – (not shown) a small retractable tape measure that will fit in your bag so you’ll never be caught short without one again!
The lovely bag your repair kit comes in has been designed by Bo Weevil, a specialist in sustainable fabrics. Made of 100% organic, unbleached cotton canvas. The bag is also GOTS certified.
