I want you to be able to remake your favourite garments, again and again, revisiting your pattern archive like an old friend.
SIZING | Can’t choose between two sizes? No problem! All patterns are available in multi sizes as we find very few ladies measure exactly to a size chart, so you can choose the best sizing for YOU and will have an excellent starting point to create a perfect garment.
DIGITAL PDF PATTERNS | New to PDF’s? The beauty of digital PDF patterns is that they are instant. Your PDF pattern comes with 2 files, the print at home file that includes the Maker Instructions and the pattern. The 2nd file is an A0 file to print at a copy shop on a wide format printer.
PRINT AT HOME | MAKER INSTRUCTIONS & PRINT AT HOME PATTERN are combined in the one file! They are designed to be printed at home on standard quality A4 or US letter paper- so much stronger than traditional tissue paper, which ensures durable and long-lasting patterns. I recommend sticking them together with scotch ‘magic’ tape, it doesn’t yellow over time and you can get a pin through it! There is NO NEED TO PRINT EVERYTHING…to save ink and paper view your maker instructions on-screen and just print the pattern. READ the instructions first, they’ll tell you which pages to print. Print the page with the test square first. It MUST measure to size or your pattern will not fit. Having a problem? Take a look at our printing tutorial.
A0 COPYSHOP | All of our patterns also include an A0 file for printing at a copy shop. We recommend our favourite printer Orbit Imaging.
PAPER PATTERNS | Our paper patterns have been printed on 70gsm weight paper, they include a fully illustrated Maker Instruction Booklet and a sturdy boxed wallet to store your pattern in.
SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED IN THE PATTERN | Be careful to take the correct seam allowances, they are listed on the pattern and in the instructions.
TOILE FIRST | Make a TOILE! I highly recommend making a toile first. A toile is just a quick mock-up of your pattern in calico or random unloved old fabric to check the fit for you before you cut into your lovely fabric.
Our fabric is sold and priced by the half metre, and we will cut them in one continuous length. To order 1 metre select 2 units, 1.5 metres – 3 units, 2 metres – 4 units.
PRE-WASH | Fabric may shrink, so do pre-wash before use! We recommend washing at 30° as it’s better for the environment. I personally do not use a tumble dryer, I think they damage the fibres of the cloth (that filter fluff comes from somewhere, you know) and we want longevity for our clothes, but keep in mind how you will wash and dry your garment in the future and treat accordingly – if you chuck everything in on 40° and tumble dry it would be best do that at the pre-wash rather than post make stage!
COLOURS | Also, colours may look different on a monitor than real life. Please email us to order a swatch if you would like to check the colour or weight before you order.
