Description

THE BLOOM SKIRT SEWING PATTERN

Suggested Fabrics

Light to medium weight woven fabrics that will gather nicely such as cotton poplin, cotton lawn, linen, barkcloth, chambray and lighter weight denims, satin & taffeta. A stiffer fabric will create a statement skirt that will hold its shape or choose a drapey fabric such as viscose for a softer looking silhouette. The scallop hem detail will benefit from, and be easier to sew, in a stable fabric, such as a cotton poplin.

For formal events I’d suggest making Bloom in a bright, solid coloured taffeta with a contrast hem band or how about a classic and chic navy satin skirt. And of course, never forgetting the option of a making a statement in a bold, large scale printed linen or silk. Make Bloom in a soft linen or a crisp poplin for an everyday skirt to wear with flats or trainers and you’ll be running your errands in style.

This is a Midi length skirt but it is simple to lengthen or shorten the pattern to create your perfect skirt. The Bloom Skirt would look incredible as a full length maxi skirt in a brocade or even a Broderie Anglaise.
